THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR 2022

The MIT Chromepet campus of Anna University, founded in 1949 by Sri C Rajam, is a unique Institution and carved a niche for itself in unconventional engineering courses. MITAA has the pleasure of honouring T.M. JAWAHARLAL of Automobile Engineering faculty, an alumnus from the 14^thbatch, as the Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2022.

 T.M. JAWAHARLAL is a native of Thovalai. He is the son of Freedom Fighter Mr. Meenaskshi Sundaram. He obtained Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil, in 1962. He did his DMIT (Automobile Engineering) from MIT, Chennai in the year 1965 (T.No. 1417).

 After completing DMIT, T.M. Jawaharlal joined Ashok Leyland Limited as a Trainee Engineer. He held various positions at Ashok Leyland and rose to the level of Head of Personnel.

 Then T.M. Jawaharlal took over as the Head of Automotive Coaches and Components Limited, Gummidipoondi, a subsidiary company of Ashok Leyland.  It is a matter of great pride that T.M. Jawaharlal has started his career with Ashok Leyland and retired as Head of its subsidiary M/s. Automotive Coaches and Components Limited.

 After retirement, T.M. Jawaharlal is fully associated with Employers Federation of Southern India, at Karumuthu Centre, Chennai in advisory role.

 T.M. Jawaharlal held various senior positions in National Institute of Personnel Management, Indian Society of Training and Development and Society of Automotive Engineers (India).

 T.M. Jawaharlal is actively engaged with MIT Alumni Association (MITAA) since its inception and held various position in MITAA. T.M. Jawaharlal is the Patron of MITAA.  He has been striving very hard to help the students and the institute facilities.

 T.M. Jawaharlal is the founder Trustee of AMITA (Association MIT Alumni) Trust. He is responsible for the various activities of the AMITA Trust including scholarship, medical assistance and book bank.

 T.M. Jawaharlal is blessed with Daughter and Son. His Daughter Dr. Nagalakshmi Alias Kalpana is the practicing Dentist at Kilpauk Medical College. Dr Nagalakshmi completed MDS. His Son Sundar Jawaharlal did his B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering from MIT and working in Singapore.

 MITAA takes great pleasure in awarding T.M. Jawaharlal as the Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2022 and wishes him all the good health and a very peaceful Senior Citizen Life.
