The Seminar on Disruptive Technologies and the Impact on the Society was conducted in chennai on 16th Feb 2018  . Attended by alumnis, students from the engineering colleges of Chennai including MIT.

Highlights:

  • Mr. Senthamil Arasu – President MITAA welcomed the gathering
  • Mr. Ramachndran – Patron Mitaa who set the ball rolling by giving a perspective of the Seminar topic.
  • Mr. Prashnat Mishra, Director, AON Service Corporation , Delhi gave an interesting key note address highlighting the impact of Technology on Modern World.
  • Mr. P. Sivakumar – Director CVRDE  presented on the technological advancements made in CVRDE and it was greatly appreciated by the audience.
  • Mr. V. Mathiyazhagan – V.P MITAA gave the vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
  • Mr. K. V. Seshayee ,Win Broadband  spoke about IOT in personal lives with lot of examples from Google and Mobile products.
  • Mr. Suresh Rajagopal – FSS Director spoke about the advancement in e transactions and  plastic card operations.
  • Mr. S. Manivannan – Emergeion Director spoke about thelatest trends in DNA technology and how it helps in handling critical diseases.
  • Mr. Ronald  Deepak, Emerson  spoke about the use of IOT in the industry sector.
  • Dr. Kanchana Gopinath – Sony  spoke on the advancements made in the area of Robotics and AI.
  • Mr. Karthick Athmanathan – Ashok Leyland spoke about  the Electric Vehicles status and how it will impact the mass transportation of our country.
  • Prof. C.N.Krishnan – AU KBC Centre spoke about the impact of Web and google on Higher education and knowledge seeking.
  • Mr. Vaidyanathan – Classle Knowledge spoke about the facilities offered by the technology in imparting education and knowledge to the remote location people also.
  • The final session was a Panel discussion .
  • Mr. Sivagnanam – AIA ,MSME , Chennai  highlighted the facilities offered by the MSME for different types of industries.
  • Mr. Ramachandran and Mr. Seshasayee  answered all queries as part of the Panel discussion.
  • Mr. Lakshmi Shankar, Secretary concluded the meeting with his vote of thanks.

The Seminar on Entrepreneurship was organized on 19th February 2015 at MIT.

Highlights of the event:

  • M.R. Senthamil Arasu – President Mitaa, welcomed the gathering.
  • N. Ramacahndran – Chairman Organizing Committee seminar – spoke on the importance of entrepreneurship and how the institute and students can benefit out of this.
  • Thamarai Selvi – Dean MIT requested the entrepreneurs to support the department on new projects.
  • Nagendran chairman of Nagman Instruments gave the keynote address.

Session 1: Various support system for Entrepreneurs.

  • This session was chaired by Mrs. G. Rita – General Manager, SBI.
  • V.C. Mouli – SDBI, Mr. M. Sreevatsan – NSIC, Mr. Sriram – Trilok Capital, Prof C.N. Krishnan – AU KBC Centre and Mr. V. Ramakrishan – MSME spoke about funding, incubation facilities.
  • It was an eye opener for lot of young entrepreneurs and students who aspire to have their own business.

Session 2: Life Story Recall.

The following entrepreneurs of MIT have shared their success stories.

  • Ramesh Prabha – Galaxy Group of Companies, Chennai
  • Gnanavelu – Arul Devi Paper Mills Private Limited

All of them had wide experience ranging from Mechanical, Software, BPO, Die cast, Instrumentation, Communications and Paper industries.

The students and other members could feel the efforts and planning that go behind the running and growth of different companies

Seminar on Leveraging Automation – 2014 was organized at “Hotel fortune Select Palms”, Chennai on 24th January 2014.

Highlights of the programme:

  • C.V. Shankar – Principal Secretary, Industries department, Tamilnadu was the chief guest. He spoke eloquently on the industrial atmosphere of the state and the various schemes initiated by the government..
  • S. Thamarai Selvi, Dean MIT spoke about the institute and the industry interaction.
  • N. Ramachandran – Chairman, Seminar Committee, MITAA spoke on the features of the seminar and how MITAA is trying to bridge the gap between the academics and industry.
  • K. Srinivasan – MD, CUMI gave the keynote address.
  • Balaji – President MITAA welcomed.
  • Madhavan – Vice President MITAA gave the vote of thanks.

Session 1: Automation for productivity.

  • The session was chaired by Dr. Prakash, HOD – E&I of MIT.
  • A. Ramanathan of Reliance Group, Ms Gowri Kailasam of Rane Madras Limited and Mr. Dominic Savio of Valeo Thermal System spoke on how automation is used in their respective plants for productivity enhancement.

Session 2: Automation for quality

  • This session was chaired by Dr. P. kanagasabapathy – MIT Professor.
  • Sundarasekaran of Madras Fertilizers, Mr. Sairamesh of Technip India Limited and Mr. K. Srinivasan of Mel System and Service Limited spoke on quality improvement, done in their industry , through automation.

Session 3: Automation for work place safety.

  • Lakshmi Narayanan consultant of GASCO, Mr. Umarkanth Safety Expert consultant, Mr. V. Venkateswaran of Saipem India Projects – spoke on how work place safety is ensured and improved by various process automation.
  • Prof Murali and his team from Mechantronics department of MIT gave a demo on the various projects implementing automation for the regular process.

All session were followed by Question & Answer session. Lot of students from different colleges and professional from industries has taken part actively in the seminar.

The event was co-ordinate with ISA, South India chapter, Mr. Jayaprabakaran of ISA, addressed.

SUMMITAA – 2012

The first Global level meet of Mitians was held on 10th and 11th August 2012.  The first day programme was held at Hotel Green park, Chennai and the second day event was at MIT.

A brief report of the programme:

10th August – Hotel Green Park:

  1. R. Balaji, President MITAA welcomed the gathering.
  2. V. Gopalan, the founder President, Dr. Mannar Jawahar, former VC Anna University addressed the gathering followed by Dr. Shanmugavel, Registrar AU and Dr. Thamarai Selvi, Dean MIT.
  3. The Chief Guest M.M. Murugappan, Chairman of the Murugappa Group spoke eloquently on the current state of the Industries and what is expected from the graduates coming out of the engineering curriculum.
  4. He released the Souvenir of the event.
  5. A. Radhakrishnan – Chairman Summitaa gave the vote of thanks.
  6. Alumni representing different Chapters spoke and shared their ideas on the activities of MITAA.
  7. A big team has come from Kuwait and Qatar.
  8. An open forum discussion highlighted how MITAA can contribute to improve further the standards of MIT students.
  9. Chocolate Krishna – dram by Crazy Mohan preceded the Dinner networking.

11th August – MIT

  1. A.P.J. Abdul kalam visited the Museum and recollected his fond memories on seeing all the photos.
  2. A demonstration of Unmanned Vehicle was done by Senthilkumar and his team which was well appreciated by Dr. Kalam.
  3. Mannar Jawahar former VC welcomed the gathering.
  4. Thamarai Selvi, Mit Dean and Dr. Kaliraj, VC Anna University addressed the gathering.
  5. Balaji, presented the Status report of MITAA.
  6. Balagopal, 1st batch alumni spoke on the legacy of the institute and the alumni association.
  7. Kalam talked about his MIT days and urged the students to be inquisitive and develop the skill to acquire knowledge.
  8. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Athenaeum chairman.
  9. The Exhibition was inaugurated by the 1st batch alumni Appa Rao.
  10. All the departments of MIT showcased their various activities and the high tech projects done by them. Various companies of the alumni have displayed their products.
  11. Goldies upto 12th batch and the entrepreneurs were honoured.
  12. The programme ended with a music programme by Ramji with young artists.

A seminar on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” was held at MIT On 7th January 2011.

Highlights:

TAS Balagopal – Patron MITAA spoke on the vision of MITAA to nurture entrepreneurship.

Joseph Stanley, Dean MIT gave the intro remarks.

P. Mannar Jawahar – Vice Chairman Anna University delivered a spectacular speech enthralling the delegates from industry and the students.
