THE OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD FOR 2020

The MIT Chromepet campus of Anna University, founded in 1949 by Sri C Rajam, is a unique Institution and carved a niche for itself in unconventional engineering courses. During the centenary birth year of the Founder Sri C. Rajam in 1982, MITAA instituted the scheme of presenting annual endowment lecture and an award for the Outstanding Alumnus in his memory. MITAA has the pleasure of honouring Mr. N.Raja of 35^th Batch Auto faculty, as the Outstanding Alumnus for the year 2020.

Mr N Raja did his B Tech in Automobile from MIT, Chennai in 1986. Later he did his MBA with Marketing as specialization from FMS, New Delhi. He excelled in his Masters with Gold Medal.

Mr Raja started his career with Tata Motors. He was in charge of North-East market and contributed highly to the market share improvement. Mr. Raja moved to Hyundai Motor India and then to Ford India. Mr Raja ensured one of the Best Profitable Period for Ford India.

Since 2013 to 2019 Mr Raja was associated with Toyota Kirloskar Motor as Deputy Managing Director. He helped TKM excel in various fields like profitability, new product launch, establish brand image, improved stakeholder relationships, customer satisfaction, satisfied and high morale employee team. As Chairman of Lexus Business group, he was responsible for the strategic planning and growth of Lexus business in India. During his period TKM was continuously rated as the Best in Customer Retention, Toyota was established as the Safety & Technology leader in India, and TKM was number 1 in Dealer Satisfaction study.

Mr Raja strongly believes in contributing to society and follows the principle of “Societies Full of Smiles”.  He is actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibilities in the areas of Education, Skill Development, Health &Hygiene, Toyota Safety Education Plan. He has been awarded with CSR excellence Awards in 2017, CSR Impact Award, Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award etc.

Currently, Mr Raja heads Toyota Financial Services India Limited as Managing Director & CEO. Also, he is the Executive Advisor to the Board of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. In addition to these, he holds various senior positions in the industry like Chairperson of ERG Group, SIAM etc.

Mr Raja is settled in Bangalore with wife. His daughter & son-in law are settled in US with his grandson. His son is pursuing his MS in computer Science in The University of Texas. Mr Raja enjoys travelling and reading. MITAA takes great pleasure in awarding Mr. N.Raja  the Outstanding Alumnus Award for the year 2020 and wishes him good health and great success in all his future endeavors.
